    Easy Pleased!

    I bought a Chef's Pan!

OMG, *squeal* .. this simple kitchen utensil has been something i've wanted for ages.

    davidjonescuisine

So the story is .. every time i've wanted to buy one, i've also technically needed other pots,
so i've walked in, price checked, wavered, worried, nail-nibbled, and ended up buying one
of those bulk home-starter packs with a few pots, a steamer, roaster, frypan etc.

    For the same price.  ish.

Those sets never, ever come with a Chef's pan.

If you're friends with me on facebook, you'll know the Drama of the Gift Cards ..
basically a little stockpile of cards we'd been saving for housey stuff, that I lost, then
presumed threw in the bin (  I actually dumped the contents of our outside recycling bin
on the grass in our backyard and fossicked through it ), and felt sick and stupid for a
    few months.

Then I found them wedged between some CD's as I was packing up the flat to move back
    a few months later..

    Plastic money.  Yay!

I waited for the David Jones Half-Yearly Clearance and whacko.
    Chef's Pan.  Mine.

I've cooked with it most nights this week - we've had Spanish Paella, and Spag Bog,
and an asian-style chicken & veges.  I love it!

None of my pans are as deep or solid or come with a lid.  I know it sounds weird,
but this one pan RRP's at $250.  That's a lot for one saucepan.

I'm pretty basic in the kitchen .. I like things like .. pots .. and .. pans .. knives.. spoons..

I don't own a breadmaker or a  Kitchenaid or a food processor or an icecream maker or juicer
or any of those other things a Thermomix replaces.  Ergo: I do not own a Thermomix.
Do not get that particular brand of hype.  I also don't like Tupperware.
But I like home demo parties for some reason.  At other people's places, not mine.

    Probably because of the wine.

So what have I been doing?

Moving house, and cleaning the flat etc, and then sorting through boxes etc .. SOLO,
because my husband like, left town, conveniently, and I was starting to feel like one of
those peasants from Horrible Histories, spotted with dung and the pox.

Then it was green bin night and I started on 6months of weeds and raked all the autumn
leaves until that bin groaned.  I've been making trips to the Salvos, filling the new fridge
and pantry, and sleeping with the lights on as I revisit old Stephen King novels.
I've been washing clothes only to donate them to charity ( honestly, I still have skirts
I wore to a desk job a DECADE ago that don't even fit anymore? ), and trying to sort
    the crap in the garage.

And i'm pretty well tired :)
But happy, very very very very very very happy  ( and tired )

    Still Moving.

We started moving in this Tuesday past.
AB is working 7days at the moment, so the routine is:

    - drop off kids to school
    - drive to flat
    - up & down stairs until the car is filled
    - back to house, unpacking, cleaning, washing, sorting
    - pick up kids
    - go to flat, lather, rinse, repeat
    - ignore whining
    - afterschool activities
    - arrive home exhausted and realise I need to cook dinner.

    But it's beeee-yooo-ti-ful!
I just wish all these boxes would unpack themselves and the flat would clean itself.

    Moving In..

There's still things to be done .. like my cupboard handles only all went on today, and the
sparkies were here yesterday doing things.  The splashback needs to be sealed,
and the bedrooms are sans carpet.

I love my Escapees cushion above.  Seems apt somehow..

    Moving Day

Kids are spoilt.  We offset sharing the smallest bedroom in the world by putting a tele
on the wall for them to play their Minecraft on.  ( I am anti-bunk-bed after (a) having them
myself as a kid, and (b) having already dealt with a broken arm once in this motherhood,
I am not going to be tempting that kind of fate again.
    .)

    Getting there..

And for all those that thought it was a bit weird that my kids shared a QS bed, you'll be
happy to know they now have their own beds.  I love the red frames with their grey striped linen

Not sure what's the story with my kid staring at the tap.  He's weird.
Also: the under-bench kickback thingy yet to arrive..

    Pano Update 28.May

And a pano after dinner the other night when I sat back and went
"I freaking love this house, how's the serenity?" ( ignoring the mess )

Removalists booked to get the last of the furniture out of the flat tomorrow.

    Home Straight.

    Final Inspections..

Walked past the new place ( as we do ) and saw they were moving out.
So it looks like it will be empty when we do our final inspection.

The lady that bought our house is coming in for her final inspection on Thursday, and i'm planning on leaving out a bottle of champers ( okay then, a nice Sparkling Wine that's on special ) and a 'welcome' card. This will hopefully be thought of as a "nice thing to do", but it's also my sweetener strategy in case she finds fault with something and wants to complain. ( I am very nervous about this, because I worry, possibly needlessly, about such things )

Funny that I worry as I am totally expecting to walk into rank & filth that will need cleaning and fixing in OUR new place. Oh well ... better a nice surprise than to end up a blubbering mess because it's not perfect ..

    I Want to Move..

    I am ready.

Still 4 weeks to go, and I have a head full of plans, ideas, thoughts and things I want to action.
    Yet I am on 'standby'.

AB & I went to a Reece Bathroom Showroom yesterday, where we looked at $10k baths.
( I guess the High St, Armadale address should have tipped us off ). C. fell in love with one for a 'mere' $5k, and promptly tried to undress and get in .. quite funny, we thought ;)

I have decided my new colour scheme ( ie: towels, as I try to keep fixed/expensive items neutral and accessorise with cheaper expendables ) will be in a tone best described as 'smoke' .. a mid-grey tone... something like this font colour ?
They had some lovely ones accessorising their displays ( probably "Country Road" brand .. it didn't look like a hue i've ever seen at "Target"... )

I haven't bought new towels in 4years, and they are starting to get ratty. They are a deep blood colour I bought for the Collingwood renovation, a traditional heritage style bathroom. This time we will go for something more modern, which will be a nice change and a bit of fun.

Both A. & I are really looking forward to getting stuck into it and creating the home of our dreams ;)
