    Hallway Update

It's been a while since I did a house update - the little things take time I think.

Repenting in leisure does not suit me .. especially if I have to walk past something
"not quite right" everyday, and especially even more if that something is an art work,
which usually, being a thing of beauty, has a pretty price-tag too.

I wanted something to go above the hallway bench.

I'm not sure where I got the rest of my idea from.  Things tend to come to me in dreams,
so we'll go with that.  I know I was aware of steel words you could buy from stores,
but they weren't quite right for me - size, pricepoint, or font.

I know I did steal some inspiration from them though.

A cheaper copy, if you will.

And I wanted to mount it somehow.

I know it's a bit trendy, but I do love the pallet look.  I have a pallet coffeetable, and have
always loved a rustic edge.  Also, I have Scottish blood, so you know .. hello pricepoint -

This pallet was gifted from a friend who actually made the most awesome deck seating
system with built-in flowerpots.  From pallets.  Oh yeah.  'tis sweet.  Very sweet.

So there you have it .. a bit more of my house.

I dismantled the pallet and put it back together to the size I wanted, and then I shaped
wire to make my word.  Once happy with everything, I wrapped the wire in wool and
    fixed it to my pallet.

By the way, try finding a nice thick wool in Melbourne in a good hue.
I seriously bought the last ball of this stuff and I looked in a fair few places.

That frame with the bunny in it?
I bought that on my honeymoon 18yrs ago.  The frame that is, the bunny print was
another gift from another friend ( I have good friends, huh? )

There's more hallway, obvs .. we've just put some prints up on the other side too ..
but I haven't finished tweaking, so .. another day.

I just wanted to share this because it's one of those projects that worked out just how
I wanted and I so love walking past it and I love it.  I think it looks great with the
yellow and red and green and orange .. I couldn't have planned it any better if I tried :D

Tealights in Treetops and Bright Happy Faces..

I read other people after a blog meet saying "oh so&so was exactly the same as she is on her blog" blah blah blah .. but Melody wasn't.

I dunno. Maybe because i've always met others in a 'group' setting .. but meeting Melody was like the first time my sister brought home a "Snoopy" VHS and I frowned at the screen .. "Charlie Brown doesn't sound like that !"

Obviously i'd been reading too long and i'd made up a voice to go with. It's ok though, her real-life voice ( and person ! ) was much nicer than the one i'd made up for her.
    Am I digging a hole here ? :)

We'd been counting down the days until our playdate, and before M&M came over, I was made to write her name and draw some lovehearts on the blackboard. To which the 4yr old added his own name. "This says "I wub Monet" he told me .. ( and gathering from the parting hugs and kisses, i'll make a stalker out of him yet )

    Poor Monet:

And something i've been meaning to do since at least last Xmas, is get the tins of frozen water out of the freezer and hammer nails into them a'la A Scent of Water like, 3yrs ago ( so long ago, there's no link I can find, and I think it might have been on her old blog ).

Pop in a tealight and hang from a tree. I likey.

    Dumpy Day made Good

I was heading towards depression-ville this morning. Despite lovely dinner and company the night before ( thanks Tina ! ), I woke up with work to do.

The ongoing drama that is Agnews.

Yes, despite *looking* all done, there were some bits that 'didn't fit', and were to be replaced gratis ASAP .. And because the damn thing cost so much, there's no way i'd be brushing it off with a 'that's ok, half done is good enough !'. But the fireplace was installed a month ago, and nobody's gotten back to me.

I spoke to a girl on Friday, who was going to get back to me Monday ( this was our 2nd call, the first one went completely unreturned ). Today is Tuesday, I call.

    She says

    {dramatic pause}

    "I'm sorry ? I'm drawing a blank here?"

    Me: "Pardon ?"

Me: { in a deadpan, I give up voice, no punctuation } "I called you on Friday, it's been a month since the job was done, and Colin was on a job but you were going to check it out and get back to me yesterday?"

"Oh yes, sorry about that, it's been one of those weeks" ( it's Tuesday, remember )

Anyway, f-fwd a bit, and it seems i've slipped through the cracks again, so a guy comes out here to re-measure again today. I have no trouble slipping into a 'tired and haggard' skin to greet him.

And because I like a lashing of good to go with the dreary .. here's some more of today, after I managed to pick myself up off the floor:

The beercarton robot is still going strong, so I decided to jazz it up. It now looks a bit like a tele, and C. obviously thought so too. Enter our first puppet theatre ;)

And the deck, the deck, the deck ..
I think he will be finished tomorrow, oh glorious day .. it's looking fab. Maybe now I can find out who my 'anon' commenter is that says s/he's coming over for vino. They obviously know me, and yes, a christening is a must ! :)

    C'mon Baby, Light My Fire

Went to Playgroup today for the first time in like a million years...
Glorious weather and only a smattering of kids, so quite relaxing, really.

We made a tie for dad, for Father's Day. It's very spiffy, so we'll be very cut if he doesn't wear it for the day. If ONLY I had a coloured macaroni necklace, imagine how cool we'd look together. Hot.

Before I went to Playgroup, I had an unexpected phone barney with Agnews. Seriously, I was being all nice and polite, and I got Mr. Excitedly-Angry on the phone.

Me ( pleasantly ): "Hello, yes, I am expecting a delivery today, can you let me know whenabouts it may be here ? I have to go out this morning for a couple of hours, so I am hoping it might be this afternoon ?"

Mr. E-A ( agitated ): "We're delivering this morning. What do you want me to do, change the route, change all the routines ?".

Me: ( ??????? )" Um, no, I didn't suggest that at all. Perhaps the driver could take my number and call me 10minutes before he gets to my house?"

Him ( now needing a heart pill ): "What you are asking is impossible. I can't believe you would suggest that! "

Me ( slowly backing away ): "Ok, look, I am going to hang up the phone now, I think you're being very unhelpful and very accusatory for no reason at all."

So I got off the phone and dialled my husband, leaving a complete verbal transcript on his messagebank. Little did I know that he was actually ON THE OTHER LINE waiting for the guy who was talking to me. We had both called at the same time for the same reason, but I had got through first. It turns out he wasn't put on hold properly ( this place is soooo bad at customer service ), and so he listened to this guy abuse me. When he got on he said "err, hello Brian. I just listened to you speaking to my wife and I must say I am very unimpressed".
Apparently he ripped it through them for not only this, but for all the other problems we have experienced with them, and their total lack of customer service. Yay ! My Hero !

Anyway, so it's now this afternoon and their very sweet driver has been & gone ( finally, someone with a sunny disposition ) and ... . I think the mantle is incorrect.

Apparently AB suspected it would be, as no-one has been "sure" if it's correct whenever he has called.

    The saga continues ....
