    The Mentalist

    Or: I don't bake much.

Soooo, after buying a yuge bag of overripe bananas, the boy and I set out to making a banana loaf. I googled something with the words "moist" and "easy" in the title ( I should have just asked Summer Pickles for her delicious recipe ( with dates, yum ! ) which I was lucky enough to sample recently - yummo )

Anyway, as I was pouring it in the pan, 1 step away from the oven, my mind was ticking slowly - 'this looks weird' .. tick.. tick .. tick .. OMG - no flour ! ( duh ).

I wonder what happens when you bake bananas, sugar, eggs and butter for an hour ? Hmm ?
Lucky I won't have to find out.

( oh, and in case you missed it in the comments - that last post wasn't supposed to be a 'quick snap' brag .... it didn't look like that straight from the camera ... there's a fair bit of post-processing magic going ohn there... )

You mean to say you piffed it? Oh I would have liked to have seen a photo of the result.

(Maybe you could have photoshopped that photo to make it look like it had risen etc., - I mean, you are very clever! - but obviously not at baking cakes/loaves. *smirk*)

no,no,no .. scraped it back into the mixing bowl, added flour, re-panned, cooked, eating it now :)

But yeah - how dumb am I ? No flour ? sheesh!

Guess what, due to people interrupting me recently I too omitted the flour. Realised when placing into the oven so, out it came albeit with plenty of child-friendly swearing.

    Well saved, though

PS I think "The Mentalist" is a terrible name for a tv show.

Terrible name for a pretty crap show, IMO ( although AB likes it, I think )

    Banana cake is moreish though.

I once made a chocolate self saucing pudding and forgot to add in the sugar. Didn't realise until we tasted it nice and hot out of the oven! Needless to say it was just ice cream for dessert that night!

Uh oh. The ol' 'missed out a crucial ingredient' trick. Good save! You just used and intermediate bowl, didn't you?

What's a bit of washing up?

Oh yeah, the 'missed ingredient'. You can sometimes play "Guess what it was?"... but not very often!
My mother once made my brother a Banana cake for his birthday... turned out he was allergic. Mouth itched for days...

Good grief - I would be too afraid to Google the words moist and easy for fear of the sort of dodgy sites that might start popping up! Good save on the banana cake. I haven't left the flour out before, but I can tell you that muffins are very tough if you find the melted butter on the stove after they have been baked.

At least you didn't forget the bananas.
I made banana bread (with flour, suprisingly) last week. It was excellent and super easy.
Not that I'm suggesting you need an easy recipe....
Email me if you'd like it.

Do I dare see what sites come up with 'moist' and 'easy'?

You girls are too rude ;)

.. or I need a smutreader to proof my stuff first .. ;)

So glad it's not just me...

I never lived down forgetting the cocoa in chocolate cake....

Now that's a pretty vital ingredient to make it, um, chocolately!
