    Food meme

    Stolen from Muz
    Just because.

    1. How do you like your eggs?
Poached, or sunny-side up at least.
Served as part of a breakfast cooked at a cafe with street seating, where I can people watch, chat, relax, and unwind.

Holy shit, where are the kids ?!?!?

    2. How do you take your coffee/tea?
Coffee. In the mornings, but generally only in winter. I don't have a high tolerance for caffeine, so generally avoid it after 11am. How the hell do people order if after a meal in a restaurant, before going home to bed ?

    Tea ? Non.
Although i'd like to, as I quite like fancy mini teapots for one, and all the rest. But it's just not me.

Lets just skip to the wine, shall we ?

    3. Favorite breakfast food:
eggs. I love a full breakfast. Any time of day.

    4. Peanut butter:
No. I used to though. If it wasn't the Cerola Apricot Toasted Muesli back in High School, it was a slice or two of PB toast. Smooth, almost melted into the well-buttered toast. No idea what turned me off, but I don't like satay either.

    5. What kind of dressing on your salad?
Depends - from the bottle, it's generally Paul Newman's Classic, but my Greek girlfriend's simple 'salt and olive oil' dressing totally transformed my Greek Salads ( which we love ), and if we're in mood Americano, ranch dressing ( nothing you can buy in a bottle here in Australia, I swear, anything here pretending to be ranch sucks ) on cos lettuce with a sprinkling of fresh parmesan is nice.

    6. Coke or Pepsi?
    Diet. You shouldn't though.
As your wise Aunty h&b, let me introduce you to my dental bills...

    7. You’re feeling lazy. What do you make?
toast. with butter and sliced cucumber, or sliced tomato, never both.
If I want both, I switch into sandwich mode, and chuck on some ham to boot.

    8. You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
I don't. AB would as he'd be hungry for something more than toast.
If i'm that lazy, I generally don't care, and am probably not hungry.

    9. You feel like cooking. What do you make?
Something that recently took my fancy I haven't made before.
Failing that: green chicken curry ( cold weather ), or Nicoise Salad ( warm weather )

    10. Do any foods bring back good memories?
Mum's Steamboat parties. My aunt used to live in Singapore and brought home a proper steamboat for my mother to utilise in small town NSW. It was quite the novelty, and the parties always had a warm vibe - the Doors on the stereo, or maybe the Moody Blues, and i'd try and steal as many of the poached eggs that floated on top as I could.

I loved it when the bean shoots fused to the bottom of the egg.

    11. Do any foods bring back bad memories?
Tripe. I'm gagging at the thought of it.
Also, after lick, sip, sucking Tequila, and getting bit by a white tailed spider as I slept on the tiles. nasty.

    Is Tequila food ?

    12. Do any foods remind you of someone?
    Absolutely. People, times, places, memories.
    Nearly always good.

    13. Is there a food you refuse to eat?
I don't think I could go a fried scorpian or crunchy dung beetle etc.
Also: see Tripe. Hello, it's STOMACH LINING, people !! Fark !

    14. What was your favorite food as a child?
Dunno. The hot dogs from the school canteen were good.

    15. Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like?
Mushrooms. Mum used to make schnitzels and the mushroom sauce was thankfully optional. But I still don't like mushroom 'sauce' - it's rank.

    16. Is there a food that you liked as a child but now hate?
    Can't think of one!

    17. Favorite fruit and vegetable:
Fruit: lychees, and home made fruit salad.
Most of my aversion to fruit equates down to sticky mess - if it's cut into bite-sized pieces, i'll eat them all - yum !

    Vegetable: asparagus - mmmmmmmmm

    18. Favorite junk food:
hot chips, preferable a little soggy from steam. God, yes.

    19. Favorite between meal snack:
    Probably jelly snakes ?
I don't really snack, although I do eat odd meals at odd times ( to normal people anyway )

    20. Do you have any weird food habits?
Probably. I tend to have a 'special' plate, bowl, cup etc that I don't like others using. I also like tiny meals on tiny plates, and eating with tiny utensils. I discussed this once here.

    21. You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on?
I lost a lot of weight in Uni by drinking tonnes of water with a squeeze of lemon juice in it instead of cordial ( I don't like plain water ). Once I start eating, I graze and graze and graze, so I kinda cut out food altogether for a while. I was also eating beetroot and onion sandwiches - I liked the taste, and there was barely any calories. - all water and fibre. It wasn't a good diet though ( duh ! ), and is the kind of thing you can only do in your late teens.

    This is not an endorsement.

    22. You’re off your diet. Now what would you like?
    hot chips

    23. How spicy do you order Indian/Thai?
    How it comes.

    24. Can I get you a drink?
Of course. What took you so long ?

    25. Red or White Wine?
Sauv Blanc thanks, and if i'm picking, it's from New Zealand. Oyster Bay is good.

    26. Favorite dessert?
    Lemon Meringue Pie. Pav. Cheesecake.

    27. The perfect nightcap?
I usually detox before bed - Nightcaps aren't really for me.

Speaking of food, my sister popped over yesterday. She's been working in Beijing for the Olympics, so came round bearing gifts and photos/stories.

She was very generous, but this was my fave gift I think:

    It reads: "Lobster Crunchy Candy"

    Is this:
Lobster brand candy ( and therefore no lobster taste ? ), or
    Lobster-flavoured candy ( mmm-mm! ) ?

I'm thinking of emptying it into a decorative bowl and offering it to unsuspecting guests to try first - what do you think ? :p

    Ooh, I like this one!
You and I share many food tastes. I need friends that are a good food influence - you know the sort that you go to a cafe with and they just have a drink and pass on the vanilla slices.
You'd eat one with me, wouldn't you??
I think I might have a go at this one. Making me hungry.

Wow, you slice cucumber for your toast? That sounds like work to me, I'll stick to slackarse jam or vegemite.

Jelly snakes are one of my fave snacks too, even though I've made myself sick on them a couple of times.

Lemon meringue and cheesecake - yummmm! Not so sure about the lobster lollies though.

So, if we ever meet up it will be hard sharing the lemon meringue pie, Pavlova and Sauv Blanc ;-)

Toast with cucumber sounds very very wrong.

    (As do lobster lollies).

The toast fetish exhibited by the rest of the anglosphere is pretty puzzling, I must confess.

    P.S. I'm stealing this.

    nifty meme.
I used to have a 'pet' spoon. I decided that was crazy so forced myself to use whatever came out of the drawer. I refuse to use soup spoons for anything but soup.

Thanks for the smile. I needed that! *smile*

We bought some lollies from Hong Kong Airport on the way back from Europe. Some of them were called 'Poo' which had us all screwing up our noses...

    Off to the fridge...
My mom used to make the most scrumptious lemon meringue pie. Mmm. On the list now to make for the kids. Thanks for the reminder.

Snap on the kiwi sav blanc, lemon meringue and toast with tomato.

Cucumber on toasts sounds odd - but i bet it tastes nice - with pepper though.

I couldn't agree more on the whole tripe thing. Vile vile vile. Even the smell of it cooking makes me want to hurl.

And would I be right in assuming that asparagus from a tin does not, and never will, cut it as a vegetable?! It's either fresh or not at all in my books. :)

Haha! Fun! I also would eat breakfast any time of day.

I would be offering those lollies to guests and lolly addicted children! Might put the kids off lollies altogether - can we get them here??????

Crikey! Lobsters have no business appearing on lolly packets ... or in actual lollies!!

    Yes asparagus!!

I love tea AND coffee... does that make me weird??

Too funny. Man, my best friend's dad used to cook Lamb's brains for them all to eat - barf! I have been a vegetarian since I was 11 so you can imagine the glee with which he used to reveal the brains still steaming from under the lid. Want some Beth, go on have some......where can you get an AK-47 when you need one. UGH, I can smell that smell again.

It's probably Lobster brand but how funny would it be if they were lobster flavoured! Freaky!
