    More on Food

    Mushroom Cappuccino:

    Serves 4 to 6

    You need:
    Ingredients

    750g fresh mushrooms
    100g butter
    1 clove garlic, sliced
    salt and freshly ground pepper
    1 cup chicken stock
    1 cup cream
a few drops truffle oil ( to taste)

    Method:
    What you need to do

Clean mushrooms with a damp cloth, remove stems and slice thinly. Heat a thin based pot with the butter, and when melted add the garlic and mushrooms. Stir over a medium high heat and season generously with salt and pepper. When the mushrooms are all cooked, add the chicken stock and the cream and bring to the boil. Simmer gently for 10 minutes and remove from the heat. Strain mushrooms, pushing as much liquid out of them as possible and reserve the stock, discarding the mushrooms. Check seasoning and add truffle oil to taste. When just about ready to serve, ensure the serving cups are warm and heat the mushroom broth gently in a pot. Using a Bamix or whisk, aerate the soup until it becomes foamy and serve immediately.

More macro meals. Yes, I like rice. And wine.
    This is Chicken Korma

What my son eats at least once a day, for either lunch or dinner. He calls it: "Meat'n'Corn'n'Cheese'n'Olives" .. although you can see this is actually apple and meat, cucumber, tomato and olives.

Almost anything is acceptable, but the black olives are a must. He's been eating them since he was 6months old. Never went the pureƩ or baby mush. Still hates soup, mashed potatoes etc - anything soft. People used to always comment on the baby eating olives when he was younger, but he has a taste for salt, like his mum. Mmm, salt.

Anyway, it's a really good way of getting fruit and veges into him..

I'm very behind in my blog-reading, in case I haven't stopped by to see what you're up to.
My Bloglines overfloweth. I'll catch up soon. Promise ...

That mushroom thing is CRAZY (in a good way). We call that colection of child food a "food plate" and the kids especially like it because none of the food is mixed!

I've always wanted to like olives. So continental, so chic. But I'm not a salt girl like you.

Sugar, now. I can do sugar.

ooh I'm so going to buy some 'shrooms on the way home. My niece is a big olive fan, she likes hers stuffed with blue cheese (erk).

Even your food is creative. Ok, the mushroom thing, I don't know but the last one has Leila's name all over it.

Mushrooms in any form - good!
    Olives - bad :(
Like Stomper, I wish I was a Sophisticat but they're just YUCKY.

Its becoming more obvious that you should be hosting the next dinner party. Mushroom cappucino looks sensational. Nutritionists would be very approving of Master B's diet. Good work. Keep it up.

Olives. I kept trying them until one day whooosh it all added up and now I can't get enough of them. Something in my palate kept saying "you will like these someday!" Like you, I think it's the salt. I'm a savoury girl first - sweet second. Chocaholics don't shoot me!

I am such a mushroom fan - so must try this recipe!!

My kids have all been avid olive eaters! Like capers too! I love salty things. daughter No.2 loves to drink the juice from the jar of anchovy stuffed olives - I think that is a bit gross really!

Urgh. We're not mushy fans here, the sound of that cuppacino makes my stomache churn. ;)

I used to hate olives, capers, anchovies but now I don't mind any of them. Their saltiness really adds to a lot of my recipes. Olives are a big hit around here too with the Little One, along with apples and strass!

I think that I may have to make macro meals for my 5 yr old daughter, as she is always lurking in the fridge or cupboard for something to eat but never wants her dinner. She used to eat olives too when she was little, but now has beetroot, corn and avocadoes which she loves.

Big olive fan here too! And so's my 3 year-old. It must be the salt thing, because we both love capers as well.

Thanks for the Mushroom Capuccino recipe too!

    Love mushrooms, love olives.
My son, when small loved mushrooms too, but now as an adult he detests them!
Master B has a great diet. No wonder he is such a gorgeous looking young man!

    My baby ate olives too.

Even I thought it was weird.

But good. They're almost a complete meal in themselves, I think.

As children, my stepbrother and I used to torture each other with olives. If you lost a bet, or a dare, you had to eat one.

The competition was stiff, let me tell you.
