I'd only just read a favourable review on Sultanablog when my husband came home that night and enquired to what I thought ?
Would the boy like it ?
I jumped at the chance.
And because i'm a good girl, I set the camera to 'non-flash'.
Unfortunately, this meant, of the 78 pics I snapped, maybe 3 were ok, and they were of non-moving scenery :)
But OH!, what a show.
A bit exxy, yes. A bit of a treat, yes .. but OH!
Tonight over dinner, my husband asked my son:
"Which Dinosaur did you like the best ?"
To which he answered:
"The one that poo'ed. Yeah. Blepppttbbbtt ( pooh-making noise ). POOH ! { waves hands in front of scrunched up face }. Poos. YEUCGHCHTTT !!"
Because there is indeed, a dinosaur that lays one. On stage.
The kids loved it.
As for the adults, the whole show was spectacular, and Bruce Spence as the paleontologist was really cool. The lighting, the sound, the show - all awesome.
Highly recommended.

My girls don't show the slightest interest in dinosaurs...but you've made it sound pretty good. Of course, the poo scene would be included specifically as a preschool-crowd-pleaser!
Did you turn off the flash so as not to aggravate the angry dinosaurs? Is it just like when you go to see the Penguins at Phillip Island? The rangers will physically remove you if you have a camera. I guess you could blind the dinosaurs, like the penguins.
No, I haven't been drinking ...
V&R: ha ! They actually said that at the start .. that they wouldn't be responsible for what could happen to you if an angry dino caught you mid-flash ... so don't do it !
( but some rude people still do ! :)
Fairlie - yes ... there was no real reason for the poo, besides to impress and gross out children ;)
That sounds great. My daughter would have loved the 'poo' section of the show.
Wasn't your little boy a bit scared? I'm sure Cherub wouldn't cope, he is freaking out at all kinds of stuff at the moment. Climber would love it though...
The only time my boy uses the 'scared' tag is when he doesn't want to do something.
Me: "Pick that up and put it in the bin where it belongs right now!"
Him: ( pitifully ): "Scared...."
But nup, the dinos were just cool. And he disturbingly likes a bit o' argy-bargy, so anytime one had a 'go' at another ... he was giggling in delight.
He's a bit of a bruiser.
H&B I hope everyone reads your post and TURNS OFF their flash - it was SO annoying when I went to see the show. Did your boy found it LOUD?! :)CB
PS: good luck with "the book"
PS: You must have been sitting almost where we were... nice eh? CB
Oh wow! I would have loved to seen that show - it looked wonderful! I am glad you enjoyed it...
I am sooooo envious of you. I don't care if my kids want to go, but I certainly do!
Of course the poo was the highlight, there is nothing as funny as a bodily function, all boys/men know that this is a fundamental truth.
[That was me above. Had a bit of a brainsnapping moment.]
You guys get all the good stuff. We don't get anything like that here.
Your boy is very brave. Mine would have run for the hills.
Yep! Little boys go for the poo scene every time! SG has begun chucking brown eyes! We can only assume he picked up the habit from Pre School.
All little boys seem to love Dinosaurs.
MF : The World Premiere was in Sydney - you were the first to see it, back in Jan !! :)
Melb's the last city on the tour.
Y'know, I think the boy must have known they were fake ... either that or he has a worrisome lack of fear/danger. Too much TV, perhaps ?
hmmmm..
that poohing dinosaur is going to give barney a bad reputation lol, sounds like a fun day out though lol
