    Yard

    Work.

Not a biggie, just the usual toil .. but this Friday ( yayy ) the ( yayy ) treeloppers are here again ( yayy ) to chip at some stumps leftover from last time ( they are right on or under the fenceline ).

With a spirited toddler, they wanted to leave this work until we were ready to have the fence replaced ( there will be holes where there was once fence ).

Bonus is that we have to chop down some more ugly tree-weeds in the still-virginal front yard .. i'm soooo looking forward to losing their sorry arses ( do trees have arses ? ). I will have to take some photos of it in all its weed-dom before we commence culling.

So what we did today is dig out the 'ornamental' ginger, that wasn't very ornamental at all. Unless 'ugly' is the new ornamental ? I also got AB to dig out a thriving and happy hydrangea that would have got demolished in the ensuing treelopping carnage. He also dug out a not-so-happy two others, while I got to work ripping out the previous owners "fernery" ( read: straggly transplanted potplant ferns ) from down the side of house. Transplant successful !

I hope I still get flowers this summer, and I hope I get naturally blue blooms, my fave.

And I leave you with this: .. after admiring the hydrangea transplant, I looked up to my gutters.

Yes, they're on the 'needing attention' list ....

sprouting gutters are the latest architectural feature. SPeaking off picking stuff up off the ground and eating it - I threw some stale chocolate cake out to the chooks and found my toddler wandering around with a gob-full of it. blergh.

It's always fun to see how the hydrangeas come up - it's to do with the acidity of the soil, isn't it?

love the gutters - maybe the previous owners thought it was a hanging garden?

I'd love to have some stumps grinded at our house, but access is a big issue at our house.

Maybe your gutters are akin to the hanging gardens of Babylon? Don't tell the council or a heritage order may be slapped on them! We had our gutters replaced recently and of all the jobs we have had done it was the cheapest. It may be worthwhile replacing them as opposed to cleaning them out :-)

Your gutters resemble our gutters! Time to get up the ladder it looks like!

    What a cutie!!!

I wish I could do Hydrangeas...maybe in the next house. We've got that crazy ornamental ginger, too - and I hate hate hate it. It's a tough one to get rid of. Next house - NO GINGER!!

Yes, I love Hydrangeas too .. and yes, you can vary their colour by adjusting the acidity of your soil, pretty cool, huh ?

And my gutters .. grow weeds .. in keeping with the rest of the garden 'theme' ;)
