Disco:
Disco's very cute, and very inquisitive. Apparently, he's really old too - the average lifespan of a G.P. is about 8yrs old .. I think they told us Disco is around 12 or 14! I hope we don't kill him!
Little Sweet is shyer ( except when it comes to the cat, who I think she's made friends with? ) and harder to get a pic of:
She has cataracts, despite being the 'younger' guinea pig. She's about 8, I think ?
Bob only noticed them for the first time the other day. It's easy to get tunnel-vision when you sleep on my bed all day, I guess:
As with all my cats, when i've brought home new intruders, they take it in their stride. Sure, there was an initial defiant spray on the back fence to start, but quite frankly, I think he's a bit scared of their size, and I think they know it too, and really don't give a stuff about him.
So yes, i'm now the Crazy Guinea Pig Lady - they're gorgeous and SUCH good first-pets for young children and so CUTE. They cuddle, they make cute noises, they are SO low-maintenence it's not funny, and they cut my grass and eat leftover, discarded apples. I'm in love with them!
And watching the Wonderpets takes on a whole new dimension.

I confess I'm not really a GP fan but Disco does look pretty cute.
Disco looks lovely and loved. What a great name too. I'm imagining that he can tear it up on the dancefloor...
They are beautiful, I love GPs, their little noises are wonderful.
I LOVE guinea pigs. I never had pet ones of my own but when I was in primary school I remember taking the school ones home for the weekend every now and then.
Oh my god I love that cat montage.
I want some too!!! Unfortunately, I don't think my dog would be as welcoming of the intruders as your cat :(
I had Guinea Pigs as children for a few years, and then I remember my mum giving them away for some reason. I can't remember why but I do remember them leaving... I don't think I was sad. (I think it just occured to me that we were leaving on 6 weeks holiday so my mum, being my mum, gave them away.)
I love the names. Disco is gorgeous - that first photo is a classic!
We have decided to get some guinea pigs too - just getting around to it has taken a few months but the decision came after wanting an easy pet for the boys and some friends of ours loving their guinea pig so much they paid $1000s to have her shipped to the USA when they had to move back there.
But dude, Disco is one big pig.
Ours are going to be called Taco and Fat Rat. Because we're classy 'n that.
We never had any as pets, but met a few pets that belonged to other people.
Love the photos -MC's eyes!! swoon.
Look I'm no g/piggy fan either but hell they've got hot names!
Very very cute but your boy is breaking my heart. He is a gorgeous thing, isn't he?
Congraulations! I adore guinea pigs and have had them at most stages in my life since the age of nine! Disco is so gorgeous, I think the breed is "Augoti" or some word like that. That is a very very old age for a guinea pig, quite remarkable actually. The longest any of mine ever lived was about 8-9 years. It looks like they have found a nice luxurious new home with your little fellas. I remember that the first time I read your blog it captured my interest because there was a photo of your oldest holding a guinea pig and I thought it was a really nice photo - isn't that funny!
I love your oldies, they are so sweet and HUGE compared to our little girls. 12 years - that is freaking amazing, perhaps it is the name - you sound like you should keep on with a name like Disco. Perhaps we can set them up on a date night, but I think we may have to sort out child support arrangements first.
