    Genetics

    How embarrassing.

I didn't know what colour my husband's eyes were ( obviously not too much romantic gazing during our tenure together )

Anyhow, it all started when we birthed the 2nd child. He has eyes the colour of a deep pool of chocolate, they are gorgeous.
I thought we all had blue eyes here, and waited for them to change. They didn't.
I thought to myself how it was lucky he looked like his dad.

So I did some advanced genetics with Dr Google and excitedly told AB about how this kind of thing is rare, but entirely plausible and blah-de-blah-blah. To which he looked at me and said "My eyes aren't blue"

    Oh.
    They're not ?

Well then I said, you shouldn't have stupid ill-defined eye colour ( says she of a similarly ill-defined blue .. no wait green ... no wait grey .... eye colour )

    So they're hazel-ish. I guess.
Which is of the brown family, yeah ?

No need to write to Maury then.

Genetically it is the eldest who got blue - the less dominant- colour who is the rarer. (I think that's what the mouse experiment I read about in grade 9 means, isn't it??)

The youngest does have beautiful chocolate-y eyes. I hope they never change...

My Ratbag had grey eyes at birth, and we waited with baited breath to see which way they'd go.. a dark grey/blue like Dad's, or brown after me.. still waiting. 3 years later, his eyes are all colours and none. Sometimes I look at them and they're hazel, sometimes, they're grey, like his mood :)

So, I have hazel eyes. My Dad has blue, my Mum has green.
Perhaps I should be ringing Maury?
I can just see my whitebread Mum on his set and my Dad coming down the ramp to hip hop music!!
Beautiful eyes on your boys, btw.

I have brown eyes, Monet has the bluest of blues and we *always* get comments on them. But Lyndon's are blue...

Your children's eyes are lovely btw.

I love your eyes collage! It's hard to tell what color your man's eyes are in that picture. To me, they look kind of grey.

We have a weird eye genetics case too. I have brown, my husband has green, and the boy's are blue. But we figured out all of the boy's great-grandfathers had blue eyes.

I have the same colour eyes as you by the sound of it. They look more green or blue depending on what I wear. All my children have varying shades of their Dad's hazel - which is nice.

Eye colour aside, I don't think there is much doubt about the baby's paternity. The photos I've seen so far show a strong familial resemblance.

I love genetics. My husband and I both have green eyes, our children; two blue eyed babes and one brown eyed??? Thankfully one look at their faces and there is no doubting their parentage.

I always found babies eyes look blue when they are first born. Your smallest man looks to have brown. Love the eyes.

Too be honest, I think AB's eyes do look blue there.

All lovely eyes, whatever colour you call them!

I am the only non-blue eyed one in this little family. My husband charmingly refers to the colour of mine as 'pond sludge'. Gotta love that man!

I'm intrigued how you did this...did you use a paintdropper function on an editting package to pick up the colour? Very cool. And I want to do it myself now!

My eyes are one of those ill-defined grey-blueish colours too.

Oh, man lucky you googled that, 'cause I would've been way sus.

I'm interested in genetics, as I myself am a throwback, and endured lots of what colour's the postman's hair jokes all my childhood.

Dark brown is my favourite eye colour, all my kids have brown eyes, only the littlest one has the darkest, and they were never blue not even slatey grey blue, even as a newborn.

Okay, you were LITERALLY four minutes from my front door. We could have met at the tea cup! Next time : ). Gotta say I nurse in public consistently. I think I'm oblivious to the looks at this point. But I'm glad you didn't have to tote any red bikinis home.

Our kids all have bluish eyes. Hubs and I both have brownish. So that's weird.

    Welcome home!
