Does Shannon Lush know about This One ?

During the 'I got my oven fixed and then there was a rush on cooking for the 4yr old party' flurry, I left a zucchini slice to cool ON A CAKE RACK on the dining room table.

I thought it would be ok as it was raised off the table, but alas, that hot steamy stupid slice left a great big whopping steam mark on my table.

I am such a Domestic Duddess.

It looked like crap, and was not in the centre, so was not even 'hideable' by a table runner or such. AB talked of sanding back.
I remembered all the hints with my bathtub ( none of which worked mind you, but thanks anyway ) and consulted the Google God.

The Google God recommended I steam iron it out. Yep.

And because it couldn't get any worse, I did it.
    And it worked.

    Gobsmummled.

Good grief. I had heard of this method before but in my skepticism have never even tried it. More.Fool.Me.

Wow. I did that once too - a cake on a cakerack on a wooden bench. And it was in a rented property (the one where we had three-monthly inspections!). I wish I'd known to iron it then.

This steam mark ironing and the burnt toast/vinegar trick are going down in my book as two of the miracles of the universe.

That is amazing. But I bet Ms Lush does know about it. She's too much of an over-achiever not to.

    Wow. I am very impressed.

What I always wonder with these things is how someone came up with it in the first place.

That's amazing. Who would have thought. I would never have had the guts to try it.

That must have been a VERY hot zucchini slice - amazing how the additional steam fixed it. I'll try to remember that, just in case.

Fix a steam mark with more steam...

I guess it has a unique logic!

Love the tip. Truly, may trundle around the house with the iron tomorrow fixing all my little mistakes. Do you think it works with water marks?

    You'll be wearing pinnies soon!

Thanks for the tip, I've a few marks on my 60's Chiswell table, plus the look on Big D's face when he sees me ironing the table will be priceless.

    So good to know.

These marks seem to fade eventually - I guess it is the varnish lifting and then it sticks back down.

Great to know of a quick and tested method to fix them quickly though. :D

I've got no idea who Shannon Lush is, but that's amazing!! Filing it away in case I ever need it (there's a good chance given my clutziness).

I've tagged you for a meme, BTW, if you do these things...

Unbelievable - never heard of it. Good on you for giving it a crack - you are obviously a better domestic goddess than me - I would of opted for a new table!

Hi Tracey sent me over to see you weeks ago and I have only just made it ... I walk very slowly! :) Lucky with that table! I do dumb crap like that all the time ... now I can fix it YAY! I'll be back to see what you can fix in my house next!
