    S.p.o.i.l.e.d.

Well, let me just start by saying that we're rather scabby in the presents dept here, and have small families, so Christmas is NOT a time of excess here - there is no abundance of gifts, no overspending.

Which I think is a good thing.

But it means, that if we want to buy ourselves ( or our son ) something a few days after Christmas because we've long admired them, saved pics of them in our flickr favourites, and they were on special when we were out today, then that's ok.

We're calling it a 'birth gift', as compensation in advance for a dividing of my attentions.

I know my friend Tina will read this and shake her head, but can I just say .. that this is the first Christmas where we did not buy him a big-ticket item in November like we normally do, and then not bother to wrap it or anything, but simply give it to him then & there and call it a Christmas present ?

I think we did quite well this year :p

And sure, maybe we should have skipped the trike and got a bike, but I just love the look of these, and with another on the way, i've got a longevity excuse, yes ?

The second child will certainly be the King/Queen of hand-me-down stock....

We got it from Parenthood in Richmond. Very cool store.

I even liked the staff uniforms, which I didn't photograph, but very cool.

We're just waiting for the temps to cool a bit so we can Radio Flyer up to the shops and back for a nice walk.

    Yay.

P.S. - I think the best thing about being a parent is buying the kind of stuff you wished for as a kid. AB and I often say to each other how great MC's life is. I hope he grows up to think so too !

It's so shiny and red who wouldn't love it!

I don't think that you should feel guilty about when you gave it to him, or even try to justify it, just enjoy it!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with that either. It's *the* perfect red.
Glad you had a happy Christmas.
How's this bloody heat? Can't believe S played golf this afternoon.

It's a divine piece of red that trike! I want one now as well. I say you are very smart purchasing gifts after Christmas when the more reasonable price tag applies. Good thinking 99.

Does Master B love it as much as you and AB?

Funny how you southerners are having a rather Qld type of summer and we're having a cooler version. Tonight I've got both girls in "winter-ish" type pj's. Looks like a cyclone is on the way...brrrr winds.

Great Trike. We bought a trike for Monet yonks ago but she couldn't really ride it. That's why I was unsure about the whole 'bike'thing. As you know, she took to bike riding like a duck to water... We think it has to do with her long legs and pedals etc.,

What a great looking shop. Reminds me of Master B's bedroom! *heehee*

You don't have to justify anything to us. I am the Queen of Justification.

I absolutely LOVE those little trikes - so retro, red and shiny looking. I don't think you need to justify it at all. Christmas is a great time to splurge a little!

Lucky, lucky boy! He'll be the coolest kid in town on that bike.
I don't think you'll be going on that walk to the shops in the next few days. Man, its getting hot!!
We often have that "the boys don't know how lucky they are" conversation. Its nice to be able to spoil them (and ourselves of course) once in a while.

It's so beautiful. I've been admiring pictures of that trike, among other things from that shop. We're so tight, Grace's bikes are from the footpath and mended by G (although the princess bike was really too good for anyone to throw out). Still, I've been planning to go over there and have a look. Maybe on the Ikea day with mum, coming up.

Yeah, I think it's good to splurge once in a while.

I have three things to say:

    1. LOVE the Trike
    2. I'm a firm believer in Trike first, Bike second
    3. Now you GOTTA save for the Radio Flyer little red wagon.

Gorgeous trike! And why not buy it when the price is right? At least you get some credit for the pressie, rather than Santa! Good that he´ll have his own wheels when you´re pushing the bub in the pram.

We 'invested' in a good trike ($250!!!) for Miss E and she rode it everywhere. Miss N still rides it and Sadie will as well ... so when you break it down to costs per ride, it's not bad ;) And the radio flyers are fantastic and they will add design cred when parked in the front garden. So I say it's okay :)

A red trike! Every kid should have one - no excuse needed.

OMG, I love that store (got lo her b-day pressie there)& that trike. R got a bike for xmas & i wanted to get him THAT ONE but hubby chose a bike instead-boo! BUT while we were looking we found a radio-flyer billycart- have you seen them?? So we kind of got one & are saving it for his birthday, we are TOTALLY living through our kids...
PS have you been to Girl & Boy on High street? great toys...

I thought that getting the stuff you wanted as a child but never got was the point of eBay.

FAB trike - what self respecting toddler (or parent of same) could resist?

    Good for you!
You have every right to buy MC whatever you like, whenever.
I see him as having a wonderful enchanted childhood with a very interactive & loving set of parents.
What more could any child want...except of course a Red Trike!!

That is such a cool trike! And after that shop pic (similar to Kidzone here in Adelaide) I might just HAVE to try my hand at some bunting for Austy's new room when we move! So cool.
