I'm not doing the cooking this Christmas.
I threw the towel in after last year, which i'm still not mentioning.
So this is basically a Christmassy menu, for a casual summer al fresco BBQ.
Starters:
Dips, crudites, antipasto, turkish bread
Seafood Platter ( AB organising this )
Sushi platter ( ordered from my local )
Mains:
Assorted BBQ meats & treats, cooked by AB ( yay ! )
Roast turkey and stuffing ( cheating - one of those prerolled ones )
Baked Ham ( about to get onto that now )
Tomato & Bocconcini Salad
Potato Salad
Roast Pumpkin Salad
Rocket, Parmesan & Pear Salad
Avocado, Red Onion & Orange Salad ( I love this ! )
Dessert:
Merry Mango Trifle ( new to me, something different ... ? )
Fresh Fruit Platter
( I don't much like desserts, so usually skimp on them. I think finishing a meal with fresh fruit is so much nicer anyway... )
I'm also making a non-alcoholic punch ( still deciding between recipes )
And there's champers, Oyster Bay Sauv Blanc ( my fave ! ), Cab Sav, Shiraz, James Squires ( the best beer ), Crownies, and some Cascade Lights. Plus some Bacardi Breezers for any young girlfriend types, and some aforementioned Jimmy Beams, which are NOT for me, I swear.
And it's SO HOT out.
And it's supposed to rain tomorrow ( dammit - hopefully after the party .. )

Oh I love a good salad. And a good trifle. I also like reading people's Christmas menus. I'm all hungry now...
Hope the rain stays away until at least the evening. Good luck.
I am so intrigued since we might be moving there in the summer (well what would be out summer 2008).
Hope all goes well, sounds like a good plan of attack. sit back an enjoy, they really do want to be with you
That sounds nice & laid back & most importantly, Summer!
We really seem to be stuck in a rut with our foods, but everyone loves the salads we have, as well as the meat, & I guess ours is not traditional.
I dont really care for dessert either- fresh is best.
Oh yum. Trifle and fresh fruit is perfect to finish.
Fingers crossed the rain holds out.
Oh yummy!! I'm all for stress free parties - the easier the better. Your menu sounds absolutely delicious.
How about this for a non-alcholic punch. It's called Cranberry Ginger Fizz and we had it at one of our parties. Apple Juice, Cranberry Juice, Ginger Ale Frozen rasberries and finely chopped mint. Yummo. I served mine in a huge vase which looked a little swish.
I love the pear salad!
Lots of lovely food for a lovely day, I hope. Enjoy!
The salads sound delish. I love desserts, trifle and fruit is perfect. Just enough to satisfy the dessert lovers.
Fingers crossed for the weather! It is finally glorious up here after weeks of rain.
Now I know you are going to share your punch recipe and I imagining I can work out your avocado salad but would still like quantities. Roast pumpkin salad? mine has coriander and red onion. Is that similar?
So if you wouldn't mind sharing some recipes? You know - because you don't have enough on your plate right now...
I love Ricket, Parmesan & Pear Salad. So delicious and, might I say, easy. I like a few toasted, chopped walnuts, too, but just another thing for people to choke on.
Do you love the 'Ricket' um 'Rocket'!?!
That's a feast & a half, how many people? It can't just be the 3.5 of you :)
f.i.v.e. salads?
Gee-sus.
Um, so how did it go? Seeing as how it pretty much rained all day? Bet there were no complaints about the menu anyway, sounds fab.
Tamara's Cranberry Ginger Fizz sounds delish. May have to try that myself one day. Hope the party was fun and easy :)
