    Thawing

Queensland was SOOOOO COLD !! Arrghh !!

We ended up with cabin fever, the wind and the rain and the cold kept us rugged up inside under blankies. Horrific.

The Trunki went well. Highly recommend it. The boy had heaps of fun scooting about, and the bemused looks of other travellers, the envy of other children, and the comments from airport staff made us feel like mini-celebs !

Here's a pic of MC awaiting 'parental clearance' at Sydney to scoot around the terminal ( a plane had just landed and we didn't want him bowling anyone over as they came through )

Lookit the purdy view from our room. 22 stories up. I took this pic when the boy was out with his dad. We pretended the doors to the balcony were 'broken', as I could so totally see an accident waiting to happen here. The thought still makes me feel slightly sick. Lovely though.

This was taken on only one of the two days of sun we got ( which were glorious ). The rest of the time we read, watched too much TV ( The ABC Schooling programmes taught me much - I learned about milking cows, why some farts are smellier than others, and about STD's ).

We also hit balloons around the apartment, coloured in, and I got a surprise delight in listening to my son recite "Green Eggs and Ham" with all the emphasis in the right spots, while I tackled my book of Suduko I bought while I was there to occupy myself. Just Gorgeous.

On the last day, we went to Seaworld, which was ok.

The Dolphin Show was good, and so was Shark Bay ( basically a big aquarium ), but there really wasn't much there for a place called "Seaworld".

For all the money we paid, 2 of the main attractions were closed ( with no posted reason ), and IMO, there was only 4 attractions anyway, if you don't count the rides, which we couldn't take advantage of.. so I was a bit shitty about that.

I was also frozen to the bone, which may have made me a tad more uncharitable than normal. And I was comparing it to my San Diego Seaworld visit of '88, which rocked.

I didn't want this to be a 'bummer' post, but it's kinda turned out that way. Sorry about that.

    It's good to be home.

memo to me: take my ride on plastic car next time I go to the airport.

I can't believe I've never thought of it.

At least you got some really excellent photos from your trip. Love MC in the dark shades and private car, no wonder you were feeling like celebs.

So umm... why are some farts smellier than others?

    Well someone needed to ask...

I'm hoping the weather up there improves in a couple of weeks!

Hmmm...may have to rethink Seaworld plans. Thanks for the heads-up. Although we *do* have a couple of ride-freaks.

Welcome home. I agree with shula -- what a clever idea. That view...mmmmm.

Very glad to know that you learnt some valuable information whilst locked indoors avoiding the cold!

Again - you should have come to Townsville...nice and warm here!

Its good to have you back - I have been stalking a bit to see if you were home! We went to Seaworld (spookily) at the beginning of last week when the weather was OK - not great - but OK. The other worlds are miles better and I am not a world fan particularly. We stayed at the seaworld resort overnight which was good for proximity but very tired looking. That balcony! I am scared of heights and would have done exactly as you did re the broken door fib! - - -

The Gold Coast in the sunshine is glorious.

But totally crap when the weather is bad.

Well I'm with Tracey. You should have come up this way. The past week Cairns has been glorious!! Warm, big blue skies... ahh... Anyway. Enough bragging from me.

What a cutie pie piccie of MC. He looks like a model.

I heard Seaworld was meant to be pretty good for the littlies. Sorry you had a crap time. Boo hoo. That's pretty shit that there was no notice of 2 attractions being out of action. Especially because those parks are so expensive to enter.

Shu7la - especially down ramps. I was so jealous. Although he nearly took out two old ladies in Melbourne on the way home ...

    Stomper - protein. Meat'n'eggs'n'cheese = stinki

Tracey & Melody - yes, I DID notice YOUR weather on the evening reports, and hated you, seethingly :)

BMM - hmm - yeah, I was trying to think of the height-challenged 3yr old, who loves animals. Apparently there's not enough tigers at Seaworld though....

    *sigh*
    :)

Although I must say that Margot especially was riveted by the dolphin show and it was worth it for that alone I think...

Glad the trunki got a good review, my mum wants to buy one for our 2.5 yo, mum just like buying stuff though...

Look! You complain about Queensland weather and Peter Beattie resigns. WOW.

PS. Remind me never to get on your bad side.

PPS. Great view from the balcony.

PPPS. I hate high balconies these days because of the little one.

PPPPS. Remember when you were at school and you wrote notes to your friends with a thousand PPSSss? No? That was just me?

Sorry the weather wasn't more favourable for your holiday. Re Seaworld, if I were you I'd pen a letter/email and send to the public relations dept of SW. Really turn it on...you might score yourselves some free passes and if you can't use them just pass them on to somebody who can. It might just make you feel better.

MC has been watching too much Don Johnson hey??!! He he he he

I miss Australia so much, I would go to QLD in a heartbeat, even if it were freezing. Heard they lost their Premier today, maybe that's why.

Actually, I didn't know it could even GET that cold in Queensland -- it always looked like a tropical paradise compared to where we were in Port Melbourne!

I love the photo of your little guy ready to put his foot flat to the floor when the light goes green!!

Welcome home! Shame about the seaworld thing.
MC looks so cool! I am sure he had a good time anyway.

I'm with everyone else. Love the MC photo. GLad we decided on Fiji instead of Seaworld.

Sorry you had a cold holiday, but at least you had a nice view! The trunki looks great, I've been online checking out the pink one!

Grace was highly impressed with the trunki too.

Can't believe it was cold in QLD, well I can really, but it's been all hayfevery and changeable here.

Noice to have you back though.

Yes, those verandahs make me shiver just looking at them.

I often wondered if Seaworld was worth a visit - thanks for advising me to save my money :)

Yes nice veiw, scary though. When we are at Hotels I get obsessed thinking about the potential accident. I tell myself "the door is locked" but I still go over and over it in my head!! creepy really!!!
Did I miss a pregnancy announcement??????? If so congratulations. If I've got the wrong end of the stick, then sorry about that!!!

Flying dolphins are pretty impressive I reckon.

The Melbourne ones don't do that.

Sounds like you were up that way, the same time as one of the guys from work. He said the weather was pretty awful.

I also liked the dolphin show and shark bay at seaworld. Chickie loved the fact that he could reach in and touch the seastars.

It's so hard to think of anything interesting to say when you are last.
So I'm going to steal the first comment. What Shula said.

    Shame about the crap weather!!

I know what you mean about balconies!!! I seem to have such a vivid imagination about my children when we are on one!!

But MC *does* look like a celebrity! What a cutie. Thanks for sharing your pics. Your hotel room was up so high!
