    One of 'THOSE' Mums

I noticed something at the park today.

Other grand/mothers were looking at our group with unreserved distaste ( and perhaps a little fear ).

Just because we preferred to hang in a group talking, and yelling across the playground things like “Jeeeeeeeeeeeeremmmmmmmmmmy*, if yooou don’t put down those woodchips riiiight now, we are going hoooome”, and “STOP IT LACHLAN*,DON’T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE !”

All the while, we continued to chat, and allowed our children ( all 3.5yr old boys ) to do their 3.5yr old boy thing.
Oh, and smoked crack and drank cans of Jim Beam and Coke.

    KIDDING !

Britney couldn’t make it to Mother’s Group today, so we had to stick to juice and rice snacks. Bummer.

    SO our kids...

... Doing nothing deadly, dangerous, weird, or ANYWHERE NEAR OTHER CHILDREN.
I’d say the worst thing, besides running around playing chasies, was that they:

Put WOODCHIPS on the slide! ( GASP ! ).
Two kids would do this while another waited to slide on down through it. Heaps fun. Harmless.
In a park with AT LEAST 6 slides, and several separate sections.

One little girl came over to join in the fun and her mother was over in a heartbeat saying “that’s naughty Magenta-Rose* .. you KNOW we don’t do that with woodchips”, and took her hand and rushed her away from the carnage.
IMO, she only said it loud enough so we’d all hear, and we did.
Ashamed and abashed we were, and the crack was running low ...

SOoooo um, like ... *whatever* !

Anyway, i’m, getting off the computer now – it’s becoming increasingly erratic, and i’m typing via spellcheck and copy’n’paste, to get certain letters.....

SOMEONE spilled a drink ( no drinks by the keyboard !! ) on the NEW keyboard today and it’s dying.

    *sigh*

    * - name changed to protect the innocent, yet bratty.

    Pass me anuva Jimmy willyalove?

Actually, I am now going searching on the blogs, I am sure to find the "other" mums somewhere who have blogged "you will never guess what we saw today when we took little Alisha-Georgia down to the local park so she could experience the local flavour..."

I'm one of your type of Mums too. I bloody hate it when my kids interrupt me at the park. Magenta-Rose's mother should get over herself. I hope her next child is a boy.

God! You're not one of THOSE Mums are you?

    KIDDING

And if Magenta Rose's Mum doesn't have a boy next time I hope she has a girl of the ilk of my littlest monkey.

I remember once when I was at the park with my boy, he didn't want to go down the slide because there was a bossy bitch mother standing next to it, and the bossy bitch mother said in disapproving tones "Doesn't he go to playgroup or anything?" insinuating that he was socially deprived. And we were at the park with our playgroup.

People are weird I tell you. Weird. Except us, we're normal.

I thought of you this morning when we were at the playground. I'm one of those mother's who doesn't insist on hats or sunglasses. There was another mother there who wouldn't allow her daughters to even stand in a little bit of sunlight without their hats on. We'd never go outside if that was our case.

Not only are the woodchips being chased down the slide by one of my kids, but like Melody they are often hatless and ...please don't despise me...I almost always forget to bring drinks and a five course meal to the park. So I guess I'm a candidate for the "those" mums club as well...

ah yes, the passive aggressive mother.

(Ok, I might have done that myself when my child was a 2 year old angel from heaven. Now he's a three year old devil with horns and half the time I'm telling him to stop hassling other people!)
PS. shame about britney. you could have made it into Who Weekly!!

That was you?? I knew I shouldn't have taken my darling Magenta-Rose to that park...

You know, it's woodchips on the slide one day, drugs and crime the next.

    ;)

I send my kids to the shops to buy my Jimmys for me. Oh, and the four year old makes the best roll your owns. Little fingers are so much more suited to the job.
But - I draw the line at allowing woodchips on the slide.

Oh, I so know about the precious little magenta roses of this world and their uptight mothers... but I won't go on. (only to quickly mention that my little boy was caught in an uptight mum situation on Monday, grrrrrrrrrrrr)

It's a short slide from woodchips to grafitti and vandalism! Magents-Rose's mother knows this, she just wants you to know it too.

Ha ha. Meanwhile on my side of town, the same scenario was going down with the 4 yo boyz after kinder. Except our boys throw Hot Wheels cars down the slide. Hmmmm, as long as there aren't any kids at the bottom, I don't mind.
And don't tell anyone, but I have been known to slip some Pimm's into my bottle of lemonade on warm summer afternoon's and stroll to the park with the kids.

Poor little Magenta Rose. I am sure she will be hell on wheels when she is 13.

    Oh.

Was that YOU at the park?

Next time I will let Magenta Rose snag her new Columbine tights on your sons wood chips.

It's back to Magnolia Square for me now ...

Post script. Of course it wasn't me, I was too busy hanging out with my hommies, trying to keep our jeans up and our muffin tops in at Eastland ...

Social dramas at the park are an endless source of amusement, arn't they. Personally I feel a bit weird about the mums who insist in always joining in with the kids at the park playing, that freaks me out a bit, I go there so they will play and not bother me. People do give me funny looks when the kids are sending the dog down the slide though.

with a name like magenta -rose she is bound to never ever have fun!!!

There's a bad crowd of woodchip pilers at our playground too. Thank god my kids never fell in with them. We just hang with the pigeon chasers and bicycle-hooners.

    And get tut-tutted a lot.

    ***

And speaking of Magenta-Rose's mum, I used to read a New York blog where the writer referred to
    (s)mothers a lot.

I liked that word so much. I wish there was a way to say the brackets out loud, y'know? Without sounding, like, stupid.

How many time do I have to tell you.

Don't smoke crack anywhere near the keyboard.

    That's how accidents happen.

    shula said...

And did you punch the mum's lights out, or what?

So its not just Dad's this happens to then? Although I do make a habit out of standing in the way of any kids that make fun of my kids... well, stepping in their way as they run through, and I'm a big unit, so they stop!

    Magenta-Rose ? Oh Lordy Lou !

    Love your post !!!

Kids need a little less protection, I reckon. Let 'em romp.

Now's when I wuz a lad growin' up, we didn't have a playground or nothing, but at the bottom of our street was a lovely little creek with a big mulberry tree hanging over it. We used to spend every afternoon playing in that creek. Years later I found out the stream was actually the runoff from the surrounding houses' septic tanks.

Never did me a bit of harm either!
