    Greening Australia

We've had a little rain these last 2 days.
The good, soft, constant, drippy kind.

When I took this pic today ( when the electricians go to lunch, or to get extra 'whatchamacallit stuff', so they don't think i'm a loon dancing about with a camera ), I couldn't believe the green.

It looks like Queensland to me ( we were probably more in awe of the green grass at Australia Zoo than anything else ! )

Only last week, the backyard was the colour of yellow straw.

    And ..
.. without the tele and computer and other electrical distractions all day .. I made some progress on the b'day invites.

From L-R, clockwise ... card cover, envelope cover ( not stuck down as I need to address it before doing so, and I can hardly pic addresses here ), inside card ( where details of party go, again, left blank for the blog ), and finally, back of envelope.

I've really enjoyed doing this so far.
It's the first b'day where i've been able to find the time ..

Previous parties i've bought both invites and cake - I haven't had the time to contemplate anything else.

Not that I can remember what took up all my time, seeing I think i'm more social now than ever ?! - I guess i've finally got an independent person on my hands ?!

It feels good. I feel this is part of my job of being at home.
    Not everybody has this luxury.
( Although for some people, this is the equivalent of having nails hammered into your palms. And that's fine too )

Whatever makes you happy, and if you are able to do that.
    Then that's luxury.

Isn't the green absolutely amazing? I was just thinking today what a difference two days of rain has made.
I'm with you on the handmade invitations...I do it for every party (as well as making party bags and thankyou notelets) and there's a great sense of satisfaction at the end of the process...(or maybe that is just a feeling of relief that it is over for another year?!)

The invites look great. There is something about bunting which promises fun!

I have a hankering to make bunting. With my time lag, I might get around to it next January.

    Love those cards.

Wow it is starting to look like a little bit of Queensland in your backyard! Hehe. It is soooo green up here it doesn't seem fair and our water supply is 100% full! And I shower under a non-water-friendly-shower head! Doesn't seem fair does it??

Your invites look wonderful. you've gone to a lot oftrouble. Its good your little man is now a little more independent. I'm planning on starting up my scrapbooking again in the months to come as my little girl becomes a little more independaent. How lucky are we to be able to make things like this and not go to a 9-5 job (or in my case, I used to work 6-4) Life can be grand can't it? Thanks Lyndon.

The rain's been great. I also love the way that all the weather reports on the news now start with the amount of rain and then, eventually, get around to the temperatures.

It's amazing how green everything gets so quickly with just a little.

    The invitations look great.
