    A Perfect Post

    Well, that was yesterday.

More eloquent words you would not have read anywhere, on any other blogger. My post would have made you laugh .. then cry ... then marvel at my storytelling talent. You might have even felt compelled to tell others about me, to email me gushingly.
Oh yes, it was that good.

And then the power went off. Just before I was about to click "send".

    *************************************************************

So now you're stuck with normal drivel.
No way could I reproduce such artistry.

You'll just have to imagine it.

    Ok.

So yeah. A 44degree day ( that's 111degrees farenheit for our US friends ) plus out-of-control bushfires wreaking havoc left us unelectrified for a short time. At first I freaked out as I thought i'd overloaded my fragile system ( we desperately need re-wiring, but it requires us to go away for a mini-holiday, and a lazy $8k ... we can't put it off for much longer .. )

So, I was largely relieved it was the whole State, and not just me.
I was extra relieved when the power came back ON .. as we don't have safety switches. A surge could either cut us off completely, or perhaps set the house on fire.... pleasant, huh ?
Anyway, we're tentatively planning to get all this fixed in February, so as long as we don't kill ourselves before then, it should be ok ...

Pics are of some framing I did yesterday.

I like to frame, and recycle then as they date - a splash of paint, a change of picture...
We have lots of framed prints here mainly - memories of places we've travelled, stuff we've picked up along the way.
The duck print ( an ad for foie gras ) is from a magazine I found left on a seat on the Eurostar en route to Nice.
I love this mag, and can't believe it's simply an advertising mag for a gourmet hall in a French Department Store.

Check out some of the other pages:

    Beautiful stuff, huh ?

I'll eventually get around to doing some more. Unfortunately, none of my exisiting frames are the right size of style to suit .. plus there's really nowhere to put them at the moment ..

And these are some images from a paper/print-promoting-publication from a workplace now non-existant. They're foodie images, so destined for the kitchen area... somewhere...

Those ads are cool. I, however, am not. It's so hot, I'm melting, I'm melting!

Very witty, made me laugh. ALso love those ads so much. Can't remember how I got here - from Dear Meagan I think. Anyway, hello and thanks for the smile.

Yikes, 44 degrees?! How did you cool down without electricity?

I love the images to frame, especially the Oreo one.

It must be terrible in Victoria at the moment. I think this is the first summer in ages that NSW hasn't been on fire, so I suppose it's your turn :(

Yes those magazine ads are beautiful! I live the pig on the bike.

Yesterday was hell! Strangely our house did not black out. But I wasn't home to know that.

I like the skating-rink wineglass. And also that you frame. You should be in business with your "make your home nice" flair.

I love those prints, too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes wants to frame an ad.

I too was thankful to come home in the early hours of this morning and discover that while the power had obviously been off for some time during the afternoon, nothing had exploded when it came back on.

I'm even more thankful that it's practically cold outside right now, given it was meant to be another 37-odd day. We certainly can't complain about the lack of a hot summer...

Oh those lovely frames...they bring back wonderful memories of all those beautiful paper promo's. I miss them so much, you must too? I was dying to get myself a 2007 calendar from one of my old suppliers but nobody had anything nice. Drats.

Ooh, the vagaries of elderly wiring, thinking about it can keep you awake at night!

Your framed pics are so bloody gorgeous!
You are so talented... did you mention a 'business venture' recently??

44 degrees! We haven't had one of those yet....just waiting though. 6 weeks of summer still to come. So smokey and hazy down your way - hard to stay cool. Maybe a James Squires is required? Love the duck in the frame; also the colours. It's always good to find things with meaning to frame. You make lovely things are your house :-)

Beautiful framing. I love those oreo ads - aren't they so clean and fresh?

I laughed at your relief that the power failure was across the whole state, and not just you...because there's something inherently funny about that!

Where are you going for your mini-holiday?

I love the colour of your frames...I have a slight obsession with dark wood.

Urgh. I do not miss Melbourne 40+ days. Not nice at all... (*meanwhile Melody goes for a swim in the pool*)

Great pictures. I can see why you want to frame them all. I remember once being given a french Hemmes (I think that's how it is spelt) magazine, full of photos and ads on the department store. Pity I was in early high school and I cut them all up...

Well the blogmonster seems to have come and eaten my comment, too, if that's any consolation!

Love the pics - I keep things for years waiting for the right frames too!

Great ads - trust the french to be super cool!!!! Melbourne is really sucking at the moment - I freaked out also with the black out - I was having visions of things beginning to grow out of my fridge!
