Mothers Group.
First Day back 2007.
Oh, and how we looked forward to today.
We made up a picnic to take with us ( that wasn't touched, despite the yummy looking fruit salad shape idea I stole from Violet and Rose )
My mum had some for dessert, and made up in the oohs, ahhs, and yums that were seriously lacking today amongst the "SHARE !, SHARE THAT WITH Xxx", and the "You're Ok, he didn't mean to bump you over", and "Say sorry to so&so's" or finally "give X a hug goodbye" of today.
And they had icecream. I had no match for that.
Lovely to catch up with the other mums.
Some of the boys look like they should be in school already,
and as we walked today, we passed a primary school the Master was VERY interested in. "School, school !".
I'm like, man, you are so young, yet how do you even know to be interested ?
But now out like a log, and that is good too.
Ahh.
P.S - that dodgy grape is annoying me. I think I see too much
Donna Hay type food stylin' these days ... like, I could have quickly turned it over before snapping and rushing out the door. Very anal.
Life's too short, right ? ;)

That's a SERIOUSLY nice lookin' fruit salad. One that my lot could only dream of seeing - and that on some fancy smorgasbord thang... awesome effort. CB
If you really were Donna Hay, you would have found a cookie cutter small enough to cut the grapes into shapes, thus discarding the dodgy grape. Just a hint for next time ...
Looks lovely to me, btw.
Beautiful salad. Too pretty to eat!
If you hadn't mentioned the Inferior Grape, I'd've never noticed, but then again, I have a Y chromosome.

what a cool way to serve a fruit salad. If i can keep my memory functioning until summer starts I'll nick your idea.
You are right.
The grape looks anal.
Cute fruit! Guess I'm too lazy to spend time cutting my fruit salad into shapes, but it does look impressive.
Very inventive fruit salad. I must try it though Monet is very, very good at eating fruit. Maybe I could try it with vegetables though. And yeah, that grape was a little annoying. I would've truned it over before I took a photo first! Hehe...
I only noticed the pretty shapes, not the dodgy grapes too!
Your description of group meetings of young kids cracked me up. Use your words!
What a funny post, love hearing simple stories like that from other mothers. Going to make a fruit salad, yum. xx
Yep, you're right...way too short. (I didn't notice till you mentioned.) Truly lovely presentation. I'm looking forward also to my mums regrouping. We need that don't we?
I was feeling a little "aimless" today. It came to me suddenly that I am missing my various groups that have broken up for the holidays. Many restart next week and the one after that - the break has refired the batteries. I'm sure there is going to be some readjustment by the kids to each other; just like you had!
An item a little off centre/less than perfect gives character to any grouping. Otherwise it would be too homogeneous. Does it sound like I know what I'm talking about?
you mean the grape with a hole in it? I thought that was texture... and intentional. I agreee with nutmeg about the off centerish thingy. I think there's a clever japanese word for it...
Ah mother's group... we're back in feb sometime.
God haven't seen fruit in my mothers group for a lllooonnnggg time - we all try to out do ourselves with stuffing our faces with any sorts of fattening pastry we can get our hands on. Obsessing about Donna Hay pics can be tempting....... In the end you may have to buy good taste!
