Thanks to StomperGirl for giving my husband the drum.
Off to Dan's he dutifully trudged. However, he didn't think i'd like the cheapo white ( Chardy ), so went 'upmarket' at $7 a bottle for some French Sauvvy.
I'm a sucker for marketing, so I appreciate a French wine called "Arrogant Frog", and a drop named "Ribit White". I found it hilarious, and being reminded of Toad of Toad Hall is cool too.
It aint Oyster Bay, but it does the trick.
I also proto-typed the eggcarton spider I plan to get the kids to make for this Weds' Mother's Group at my house. Showers are forecast, which is typical. Bah. Told-you-so and etc. bah!
I wonder if i'll get any trick-or-treaters this year ?
I still have all the leftover bags of stale lollies from last year if any kids are keen enough ...

The kids have actually been invited to a Halloween Party this year ... something I never thought I'd see outside the US. I like the fancy dress part of it - I'm not so keen on the truck loads of candy that gets brought home.
I felt bad the first year we moved here .. we had kiddie-callers, and it was just lucky I had a fresh stash. I supposed we'd moved to the burbs and duly remembered it.
I worked it last year, and nary a caller. I was soooo disappointed.
The boy loves an unexpected caller, so i'm hoping we'll get some this year :)
Ditto on the candy though. I'm a bit of a carrot-stick nazi ....
I'm such a grump. I chased away grubby teenagers the last two years in our old house. They were hunting in a pack, hadn't bothered to dress up and were very much just in it for the lollies.
Bah hallow-humbug.
Maybe it's the move this year to more serene suburban streets and away from grungy inner city, or maybe it's just the inevitable passage of time, but I am feeling much more mellow about trick-or-treaters this year.
As long as they're not grubby teenagers in civvies.
I love Halloween and the Trick-Or-Treaters, but the last couple of years we haven't had very many. I think it's because of the serious cold weather and the fact that so many people are promoting "safer" alternatives to door to door stuff.
I love the new look too! :)
Forgot to say I like the spider!
that spider is terrific. have you seen the site www.kidscraftweekly.com? they do some great stuff every week. although it seems like you have a good handle on the arty crafty stuff.
i have to admit, the halloween thing annoys the beejeesus out of me. it's the only day of the year I thank the heavens that I live in a flat. a security one! they've got to get past the grumpy old trolls before they get to me, thank goodness!
Oh, I'm with you, I love the Arrogant Frog/Ribit wine. Not sure I could pay a whole $7 for a bottle though...
The spider is excellent. Thanks for the Halloween heads-up too, I should stock in some lollies. And then hide them from Fixit or he will eat them instead - he's worse than the kids.
PS. Slow! Just noticed the new look, very nice. Does this mean you went Beta or have you just been playing?
Bec - no candy for plain-clothed kids. You want candy, you need to come to my house looking silly ;)
My float - thanks for the link!
Basically all my stuff is from childhood memories/Playschool.. so will check this site out .. ta !
Stomper - no, just a bit of a tweak-up. Wanted to tweak, thought about Beta-er-ing at the same time, but nixed the latter .. for now .. ?
Thanks all for the comp's on the site and the spider ! :)
I remember buying from Dan's a lovely box of Dan's own label wine for monet's b'day party last year. (For the adults obviously!) It was so nice and oh-so cheap. Something like $5 a bottle!
Your site looks beautiful!
I was just at Dan Murphy's up here in Sydney but completely forgot to look for the wine bargains. I was on a beer mission for Mr J. Anyway, back I'll go.
Thanks also to MF for the link; my crafty side has imploded of late. I'll be taking a look.
But H&B, your spider looks a treat; I'm thinking you may not need many tips :-)
Kids....lollies....oh, they'll be keen. Thankfully we found a "halloween alternative" carnival complete with booths, petting zoo and costume contest to get us and and keep us from having to answer the door every nano second. (Bah-humbug-ish?).
The Spider looks very very cool! I love it!
i too love your spider. perhaps you picked up craft (and hairstyling)skills from your wonderful mother :)
We have very few each year. I've started buying the good candy since we are usually the ones stuck with the leftovers....which isn't good! ;)
