    Melbourne Museum

    Fan-bloody-tastic.

Firstly, thanks for the entrance fee ( $6 per adult, kidlet free ). It seems most places charge $25 per adult these days. Which is NOT family-friendly, at least not to those of us that like to pay the bills .. but anyway ..

Then, the interactive kid's space right by the entrance. Brilliant. Let them get rid of some of that excess energy they possess before frightening the folk who come to see the more serious exhibits. Not only that, but this area wasn't naff or 'token'. It was full-on cool. Build your own glowing stalagmite ... buttons to push, noises to hear, tunnels to crawl through, peepholes to peep through, a giant-sized pinboard in which to press your bodily impressions... Awesome.

My favourite exhibition however, was the "Melbourne" feature. A model of the MCG with cutaway visions into the rooms, stalls and dunnies below the ground was hilarious .. several of the men represented reminded me of my husband, especially with references to "Ablett" ( Snr or Jnr, who knows ? ), and the fact that the Umpires were Shocking ( although AB actually says "cheating" ).

A fabulous day. Thanks, Daddy !

Melbourne museum is great, I agree. Though I think I missed the MCG exhibit. Maybe it's new. Of course, if you ever come to Christchurch, you'll find that the museum is free (though there is a donation box). The same for our brand spanking new art gallery.

That looks like a great place. I have been to two similar here in the states, and they are as fun for adults as they are children.

Thanks for the visit. I have no idea why that woman would leave that foot-locker in the basement, but she sold her house to move into a nursing home, and I guess she didn't have the strength to get rid of more. Her son lived far away, so I guess he didn't want it either. She also left a beautiful Persian rug, which we used until 2-3 years ago.

I visted the Melb Museum sometime last year (international children's day I think it was!) I went with my mother's group. Unfrotunately it was reallyyyyyy busy the day we went so I got all fustrated with everyone else there. (You know, screaming kids, millions of prams etc.,) I really wanted to return but you know, moving got in the way of things... (I do though remember the Neighbours exhibition they had there and nothing beats seeing Phar Lap.

I love the Museum, especially during school term. Love the photo of the dunnies - I meant to do it the last time I was there but the battery in the camera went flat.

I still haven't been to the new Melbourne Museum. Its on the list to go to whenever we go back down, but with visting family and running around, we never seem to fit it in and always end up at the zoo! (which too is amazing).

Looks like we really need to fit it in next visit. Thanks for the pics!
