    Keep on Running...

    Can't stop to chat !

    Bathroom is finally underway:

    Day 19: Bathroom Day 2

The house is very dusty. My 10yr old vacuum cleaner died and I loved it very much. The replacement is very expensive, and we're to&fro'ing on whether to get a cheapie, or fork out for a machine we know is superior ( a Wertheim, if you have one - with two motors and a powerhead brush: awesome )

I owe people photographs and thankyous and time and effort. You know who you are.
    Soon .. soon, my pretties.

We went on the Southern Star, "Melbourne's Newest Attraction".

    Day 16: Southern Star

( i'm very proud of this piccy :)

The pods are pretty cool inside, but it would certainly be better if the view on the way down wasn't of diggers and building sites and a rooftop carpark. I bet you don't see views like *that* on the London Eye !

We nearly never got there after a sleepless night of me bent over the toilet heaving. I think someone might have used my toothbrush for some creative cleaning.
Yeah, a bit of e-coli with my toothpaste. Nice.

I have two small tourists who would probably think that the diggers and building site were pretty cool. We'd better hot foot it down to the Southern Star before works finish!

Think your Southern Star pic is just fabulous (has a bit of a surreal quality), but like the bathroom too. Being the non-photographic type, can only say I am taken with the striking colours (if I knew more, I'd be able to say why).

Have you entered that in the competition?

I just went hot-footing over there to see if it would be a good birthday activity for the Climber this weekend but have to say the prices were a bit prohibitive...

That photo is fabulous. I actually find it a bit creepy and sci-fi ish. Like a book cover.

Is that southern star thingy like the one in London? Cool.

    Great photo.

And it's probably worth investing in the new vacuum no matter how unglamorous such a purchase is.

I say buy the good vaccumm cleaner, especially if it's you that gets to use it. I can't wait until our vax dies and I can justify gettin something lighter (there is some duct tape action at the moment so hopefully it won't be too long). We got a crappy vac with the house and I made G chuck it/shed it because there is nothing worse than a crap vac.

You know I *heart* that Melb shot. Nice one. Only thing is, I don't see it being the big money spinner they reckon it will be. It is nothing like the London Eye, really, is it? Or is it? You tell me.

We needed a vacuum when we got here. We didn't ship ours over because it died the week before we packed up! It was either buy an expenisve good one or buy one worth a hundred or so bucks. As our home had heaps (& heaps) of dust and workers dirt everywhere (these villas were not cleaned before one moved in!) we decided on the cheap (Hitachi) vacuum. Man, that vacuum is a gun!! Gotta love that.

Nice wheel photo! Looks very Coney Island to me.

We bought a decent vacuum when we got new carpet (but not Wertheim expensive; Miele expensive, which is a fair bit lower down the scale) and it's been good. Admittedly you have to keep it well away from things you haven't picked up off the floor yet; many a time I've tried to push a cat toy away with the vac head and sucked it up by mistake.

    Hurray for the bathroom!

I have the wertheim and it is WONDERFUL. When getting the vacuum make sure you get the power head but also another generic attachement which is this long skinny head for the floorboards, it helps you get into all the corners and makes for efficient vacuuming. Oh it's a worry I am talking about vacuums like this!

DAMN, lady, your photos just keep getting better and better!

    Ah, yes. The photos. Hmmmm.....
Now vacuum cleaners, there's something I know a bit about.
My MIL has the Wertheim. Hers is about 15 years and going strong.
We forked out about $700 for a Dyson. It does a great job, but things keep going wrong with it.
Fantastic wheel photo. I can't decide whether to go on it or not.

    thanks guys.

My old 10yr old was a Wertheim - I couldn't fault it and people used to *borrow* it, it was that good. The powerbrush does a better job than those steamclean chappies.

But to replace the motor on the old is $440+, and a brand newie is $1000+

Now if you'll excuse me, i'm off to buy some icecream ( I can afford that ! )

love your pic of the new wheel. I totally forgot my camera when I went there for a look see and like the way you captured it...it is in a unique spot isn't it.

    Fantastic photo!

And hooray for a new bathroom!!!

Sorry can't help with the vacuum though!

Ew. Sorry you were sick. That wheel looks fun, though.

Glad to hear you are starting on your bathroom! Mine is going on year three of being still in destruction mode!

    That bathroom looks BIG!

    I love the pic!

Boring things, vacuums, but necessary. I say go for the expense, if you get another 10 years out of it, it pays for itself really.

$1000/10 = $100pa = $1.92pw. Not worth the stress of battling with an inferior model.

Love the pic. Also I love the Wertheim thingy. Mine is fabbo, lover the powerhead. I'd go the Wertheim every time.

That is an almost surreal pic of the new attraction!!
Quality is usually worth the investment, re the cleaner.

Am going through bathroom renos myself. It's not a great deal of fun having to brush my teeth in the kitchen. But, today a new wall went in and tiling will be complete by Sunday (fingers crossed).
I'm sure you're room is going to look great when complete.

Oooh! Good luck with the bathroom reno! We're one month it, god help us. And no, we don't have two bathrooms. I love the pic of your boys in the tub, btw, divine!

Wertheim 40/30 was my last vac... should've fought for it in the divorce instead of the computer!!! Got another one now, a cheaper Wertheim but still love it! Godfreys often has them on special.
