    A Proud Moment

    We had Mother's Group today.

Everyone had gone home and i'd cleaned up.
Walking past MC's room, I stuck my head in and asked
"How's it going there bubby ?"*

    "Mum ?"

    "Yes sweetie?"

    "Turn this shit off ?"

    "wha ?.... " ( thinking: did he say that ? )

    "Turn this shit off please"

Turns out he'd put in the wrong disc of "Garfield", and instead of getting the movie, he'd gotten the 'bonus extras', and granted, it probably was shit.

    I wish I was a better mother....

    * and I really have to stop calling him 'Bubby' ...

It is hard when the swear word is used appropriately!

Hilarious! I agree - extra points for using it in context.

Well at least he didn't shout it from his room while mother's group was on...

PS. I've bestowed a tree of happiness award on you. (bit more detail on my blog). Don't tell MC about it ... I'm afraid to hear what he'd say!

A proud moment, I agree. I've had a few of those myself.

Hate to tell you this, but you'll probably still be calling him bubby in fifteen years time. At least, that's how it works around here...

    Wow. He remembered his manners...

    *chuckle chuckle*

At least you don't have a little girl sitting in the back seat of the car and says "Bloody roadworks" everytime we see roadworks...

The Impossible Princess was given one of those plastic Macca's figurines from a McHappy meal by a well-meaning adult the other day...and her response? "I don't want that thank you. It is crap."

    Made me proud.

Oh God I just love this, what a classic post. He has wonderful manners this boy and that's a credit to you ;-)

PS: Don't worry - in this house, Miss A (4.5) is Bubba and Miss D (1.5) is Bubby. I think they'll be in their teens and you'll still hear me saying it.

Thanks for the comments too.. your blog looks fantastic and I love your home.. beautiful

My girls exclaim BUGGER! regularly. I usually manage to just hiss Shhhhiii..! through clenched teeth instead of getting the full shit out ... so I might be safe there for a while ;)

    Appropriate context
    Evidence of good taste
    Well articulated

    What's to worry about!

(Like I say to my kids - just don't say it in front of your teachers or your grandmother)

I had Sophia (4) reciting from the car "get out of the way you bloody idiot" to a truck which had blocked her view.......ah the power of the media
p.s. Bub thru to bubby are generic names for any member of our family
