    Getting There...

I wonder what life would be like if I put half as much interest into cooking or cleaning ?!?!?!

Or even showering and getting dressed ?

This is why I hate 'drop-in' type visitors.
    Callers by appt only, ploise.

I'm totally with you on the drop in - I HATE it, drives me nuts. This is probably because I'm generally in my PJs (nice daytime PJs, not the sleepies) and the place is scattered with newspapers and assorted cat toys. I like sufficient warning for tidy ups and hair brushings!

I hate 'drop-ins' too. I *always* need to spruce. Not only the house but myself.

See, there are more drop-in haters out there than I'm aware of!!! Hate 'em too, hate..hate..hate 'em! Actually, the hatred I feel towards drop-ins broke up a relationship I was in, he loved them...I hated them. My friends respected it, his exploited it!!!

Time is precious and sometimes I just don't wanna see anyone, and being the perfectionist I am, I want everything to be "just so".

Life with cooking is wonderful, life with cleaning is not - stay where you are!

Glad we've got this in common :-)

Dito. If you drop in I will gag the kids & pretend to be out!

treasure map looks fab, my dear husband always wonders why I can put so much effort into craftin' & yet he is always hunting for clean jocks! if he didn't do the cooking we would all starve, poor man...

Showering and dressing wouldn't bring as much creative satisfaction as you beautiful invitations! (I assume that they are the invitations...)

Cooking and cleaning aren't nearly as much fun as a treasure hunt map. I too hate the drop in. I'd really love to padlock our front gates, but then that would be rude. Wouldn't it?
I had in laws plus their friends drop in when the 1st boy was one week old. I cried and went to my room.....

Well, if they drop in, maybe you could point them at the kettle and show them where the teabags are!

Age has many drawbacks, but there are plenty of benefits. I used to hate drop inners. Now I couldn't give a care, & if they dont like the disarray they can just feel free to bugger off again!

I swear by the "oh sorry about the mess - the cleaner called in sick today!"

    ....i don't have one!

I have mixed feelings about the drop in. If I've just done a super clean I'm gagging for a drop in so that I can look like the house is always in that state. If though it's a craptacular mess - as it mostly is - I'm not so keen.

OH and thanks for the juice recommendation I bought a bottle this week. Very pulpy indeed.

That is going to be the most sensational party ever! Lucky big bro.

I hate drop ins - I need warning. Hubby loves them and his parents live in the same sububrb so it is a touchy subject.

I often wonder what my house would look like if I devoted more time to housewifely duties...

Tracey - it is the map for the treasure hunt in the backyard :)

Wow! - I had no idea everyone else hates the drop-in too ??? All these years, I thought I was alone ( except for my own weird anti-social family ).

    This is most encouraging.

Who the hell are those weirdo drop-inn'ers then and what universe are they living in ?

Amen. Now that I work from home, it freaks me out when people drop in unannounced. Even when I tell them, to their face, that I'm on deadline, it doesn't seem to sway them.

I need to work on my rudeness. Apparently, I'm not rude enough.

Yes, but think of the memories you're making. The map is very clever and beautifully done. The kids will love.

With therapists traipsing through our house at the rate of approximately 3 a day, I've toughened up my drop-in muscle a bit. I used to detest drop-ins but honestly, realizing that my bra is in the middle of the living room floor a millisecond before opening the door to guests doesn't bother me quite as much as it used to. Scary.

Your pirate plans are looking fabulous..will enjoy to see the highlights of the party. We've had a bit of pirate action around our place too. fun. I hear you about the drop in - I feel it's a bit impolite. What really annoys me though is when people don't realise it's time to go!

But you have to admit the treasure map and party are much more fun that cleaning or getting dressed!
