    Eggplant Parmigiana

Baby is under threat of eviction and I would rather avoid as much medicalisation as possible.

However, I didn't want to start pushing things until after today as I don't like sharing birthdays with 'other dates of interest'. Today is Valentine's Day, and although we don't celebrate it, i'd like to avoid it as a birthdate.

So tonight i'm making Eggplant Parmigiana, a recipe from a restaurant in New York which 'guarantees labour within 48hrs'.
To tell the truth, it doesn't look or sound too appetising to me ( I'm not much for rich tomato-ey meals ), but the boys will love it nevertheless.
AB is an eggplant nut, and of course, don't all boys love anything smothered in too much tomato and cheese ? ( bluk !! )

I'm also not so keen on expediating labour.
    What, i'm a masochist ??!? I like pain ??!?!?

No thanks. I'm quite happy to keep this baby on the inner forever.
But I suppose if i'm in for it one way or another, i'd rather avoid intervention, so here I am .. compiling a shopping list for tonight.

And yes, I know all the other ways to bring on labour too - including the rude ones.
I know I had a case of Tourette's in my last post, but i'm a nice girl, really ...

I've read about that eggplant parmigiana - hope you get through the meal and good luck with everything. We're all waiting with bated breath for bub's arrival.
And I don't think there is any expectation to be a nice girl when you are giving birth. I distinctly remember screaming at the anaethetist to "stick the bloody thing in" (the anasthetic!) with my first. All the nurses tiptoed around me after that! Ha!

I've heard about the eggplant parmigiana thing too. Sadly, I am not a fan of eggplant so that will not be a choice for me!

I was talking to a darling friend of mine who is a massage therapist and she says that there are accupressure points that are supposed to help with labor. Here's what she emailed me about it today - "The points are just below the ankle bone on the inside and outside of the foot. It's said to stimulate the pituitary gland to release hormones that speed labor and reduce pain. It's best to avoid this area until you are in labor or you need help starting labor. I've had clients use this technique and they've reported success."

It's worth a shot! Good luck! I'm totally with you on the not wanting the baby on a holiday.

I've never heard the Eggplant Parmaigiana one before. I have heard castor oil (urghhh!), spicy foods and raspberry leaf tea though. Never tried any of the above myself. I was quite content to let mine keep cooking for an extra 10 days each.

Good luck with whatever you decide to try. I can tell you, the castor oil never worked for me...nor did the loooong walks.

I guess you've heard the theory about spicy curries? Happy "Balance Time Day" from Holly.

Urgh - I'd rather have a drug free labour of a 15 pound baby than eat eggplant. Gross.
Dates of interest are par for the course in this household. Husband was born on Australia Day, first son during the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, second son on Christmas Day, me on Fathers Day. Oh and my Dad was born on Anzac Day.
    Tomorrow's a good day for a baby.

I know what you mean about sharing dates, my cousin was born on Anzac day, as a joke we still call him Anzac Digger Cobber Mate.

you know how everyone says eat chilli, drink cod-liver oil, blah blah blah - well it's all a fallacy - my midwife set me straight w/ Grover - it is foods that upset you - so if the whiff of sweet chilli sends your arse into gear, that's the ticket.

For me that means lots of green leafy vegetables, five seed bread and pineapple. Oh yes it does.

    I'm just saying.
