    An End to Tradesmen

    It's been a tradie week.

Blokes looking at the roofing tiles, blokes looking at the guttering. Blokes.
    Nice blokes, blokey-blokes.

Blokes that fossick through your stuff and make themselves at home.

    Yeah.

Through an unexpected 'great deal' that no other company could match, we got reverse-cycle heating and cooling installed this week
( mm, toasty, just in time, it's getting chilly out ;)

We also had a Dr's appt the same day to see if my husband had been living with a broken hand these past 8months ( no ), so we left them to it and went out.

We came home and discovered our bathroom cabinet wide open ( ?? ) - I thought it was odd, but maybe they needed a band-aid ??

A bit later, I discovered two washed out mugs and the jar of coffee out ( ok, so I forgot to offer, didn't think to leave out - but this also meant they went through my cupboards while I was out - fossicking for food & drink - what the hell - what a liberty !! )

The next day, I noticed my 'good teatowel' ( ok, so it might be a bit strange, but I do have a neatly ironed teatowel on my oven I don't really use often ) - I get more ratty ones out of the drawer normally.
So there was a used one on the sink i'd left out after brekky and before we ran out the door, but no, my GOOD teatowel had been used, and it was stained with all sorts of black dirty workman marks
    - WHAT THE HELL ?!?!??

Don't they bring their own rags for this crap ?

    I just think it's damn rude !

( My boys today throwing multicoloured balls at my head today and finding it most funny - harumph ! ;)

    No tradesmen tomorrow.
I can hang out at home and not shower and not care.

    Yay.

How considerate of the tradies to make themselves at home...

Looks like fun in that ball pit there. I've never really played in a ball pit myself and I want to! It looks fun :)

Doesn't it kind of freak you out when tradies do that sort of thing? Makes me feel all yicky. Like being burgled in a way.
And as for staining the good tea towel. THAT I completely understand!

I think if I was a trademan/woman Id go through peoples cupboards too! Im into fossicking....

Ahhh fond memories of the days doing the pyjama run down the hallway to the toilet when the tradies have nicked out to their van to get something.

    Ball pit = cooties.

I agree, RUDE! Urgh. I'd actually feel a little voilated, but then, that's just me. Typical man to use the Good Tea Towel (they don't understand these things do they?)

I hope they had gone before you found all this out?
I might have gone roaring out to confront them! GGGGRRRRR!
    How dare they.

We had a very hungover idiot come to do a Pest treatment at our house. He told us to go out, because the treatment included something really strong.
When we came home, he had spewed in the downstairs loo,(which didnt flush fully, so that is how we knew) & had left the sliding door wide open on the upstairs balcony.
    A&*$hole.
We rang & demanded another FREE treatment. And got it, too!

I know exactly how you feel...some workers are just hopeless!! I went out and left the electricians at my place. I came home to find that they had STOOD on my bed to drill a hole in the ceiling, they had walked MUD all thru my lounge room and I must have left Noah's pyjama drawer open and it was filled with saw dust - couln't they have SHUT the drawer?! What were these boys thinking!!

Very cross making indeed - just not on. Dob them in (unless you need them to come back of course).

I feel your relief H&B. We had some plumbers around on Thursday - just when the diva was home sick from school and the darling had no daycare and I thought "Oh goody can we all just slouch around the house in our pj's for the morning?" and then came the knock on the door ... :-(

And grrrr to the use of the good tea towel - I have one of those too!

I'd rather leave my wife in the care of a horde of Mongol warriors than tradespersons running loose through my house.

Surely they can bring their own coffee, bandaids and rags! Next time they are there you should feel welcome to go and look in their tradies truck, in the glove box and all those secret compartments in the back. They'll be OK with it because they have no boundaries!

I agree -- I think that's terribly rude. My husband has a horror of having people in our house doing work when we're not around (which is why I could never have a housekeeper, even if we could afford one) and I think this sort of transgression would send him right over the edge.

    Sorry about your teatowel.

My kids think the good tea towel is the one you flick with your hand while you are running through the kitchen! With the entry way to the left and a family room to the front, it is a big circle. On rainy days, they go wild!

Okay, way beyond rude. That's just wrong. And yes, they absolutely should have rags for that crap! Nothing worse than a fossicking bloke!! Happy Mother's Day (do you celebrate this weekend there)?

I had an idiot tradie put big black handprints all over my yellow upholstered bedroom chair once. And recently I had a electrician in to put up 5 lights. He broke 2 of them completely and then stood all over my handmade quilt on my bed to put up another. I feel your pain....
Anyway a Happy Mothers Day to you.

How rude. It's not like they would have been surprised to have been dirty - "oh look, I've got a mark on me, oh no, where can I wipe it?" Why aren't they prepared!!

The boys look like they're having stacks of fun in the ballpit! And throwing balls at mummy is always fun. Glad hubby's hand wasn't broken - his aim would have been far worse!

wow, that is rude! And the good teatowel stained with blackstuff would have me fuming!!

I know our cleaner has a good time looking for biscuits and a little something to watch on tv while she's here taking care of the grot... I usually find a packet of biscuits has been opened, a freshly washed cup in the draining board, and the tv changed to buggery. But I feel a bit stupid leaving bikkies on a plate for her .. like she's santa or something.

what a neck they have to go through your stuff, It is hard to get a tradie you can trust these days arghhhh. Bitch slap them I say...

Oh that is just so very wrong. Never, never, never touch the good teatowel.

    LBA said...

Yeah, I know - the teatowel thing *is* pathetic, but then, that's who I am ;)

Shannon - I was outside the pit, behind the mesh. And yet, i'm the one with cooties. And I *never* get sick.

If anyone from my MG is reading this .. sorry .. I probably shouldn't have rocked up yesterday ( sorry ) ...

Ah ha, tradies have been driving me nuts for the last few weeks too! Its the apprenctices that are the worst, hanging around chatting to the dog, accidently making our fridge defrost, wrecking stuff.. And I am told to be very nice to them so they will do a good job! AND I discovered a used coffee cup on the bench today.
