    Not all Hard Work

Of course, I only do hard work when it suits my own purpose, so don't think i'm some sort of martyr or something. Totally self-serving here....

The idea is that one day I will have a lovely landscaped garden/yard. In the meantime, digging, exploring, thinking, planning & dreaming makes a really pleasant pastime.

We planted some more English lavender - this time on the side of the deck. Mmm, wafting goodness.

Couldn't resist getting some salvia. *Love* salvia.

Discovered this yesterday. I think i'll hold off on buying the boy a pet of his own.

    Lynched chicken.

The chicken kind of looks like a tropical parrot hanging there.

I wish that we could grow lavendar in north qld, but it doesn't care for caly soil or high heat and humidity.

Your garden is coming along lovely. And I love the bricks on your home - clinker bricks?

It's amazing where those fluffy yellow chicks turn up!

We must have had the same concreters! We discovered a similar L shaped lump the other day. It had to be removed to make way for the garden bed in front of our new set of stairs. Now what to do with it. I may have to take up your "bin loading" technique :-) Though our bin is already so full all the time and we recycle and compost etc etc. I can't believe we still make this much rubbish!

And I love salvia too - I have some just like yours but mine is finishing up now. Time to plant some more :-)

When I had a yard, I used to love getting out there on weekends and having a good dig and plant. It always seemed good for the soul and the smell of the garden was always refreshing... even in the dry heat.

And have you asked young Master B why the chicken was strung up?

melody - yep, clinker brick. Hence why I save all the old borders I dig up - they're lovely bricks !

nutmeg - that is bizarre. Sometimes I wish I had x-ray vision. I wonder what else is lying in wait for us ?

muz - agree entirely. The garden and the physical toil give me a real feeling of Zen...

joke/stomper - he just likes to tie things up. But yeah, that chicken was totally asking for it ...

Your garden looks very nice, unlike ours which is an 80s granny garden at it's best and a jumble of weeds and rubbish at it's worst. That's why I will be paying someone with a big backhoe and design flair to rid us of it :)

Oh no!! Ah, the joy of our little guys. The lavender is gorgeous. And lovely prezzie toppers to boot.

Lovely. I've never learnt to potter in the garden but reading you write about it, makes me want to cultivate an interest.

Little boys love the idea of 'punishing' something!

These photos are so nice & refreshing to look at. The bit I most like is the tap with the hoses attached. The chicken is definately the main event but there's something about seeing the humble tap in photo that makes me very pleased.

If fact now I feel the urge to go and take photos of all the taps in our back and front yards. There's a lot of memories and events attatched to those taps!

    ha !

victoriae - I kept the taps in the picture as that is what the chicken is STRUNG to .. although it's a bit hard to see the light blue scoobidoo that acts as a noose ...

Hopefully this lynching stuff will never see me in a court of law in future ....
